Home Care

for the Patient

General Recommendations

Complete any ordered diagnostic tests or exams before follow-up appointments with the doctor.
Take prescribed medications as directed, adhering to schedules and instructions from nurses and treating physicians. Do not take medications not prescribed by the doctor.
Avoid crowded places such as public transportation, theaters, restaurants, shopping centers, and churches unless authorized by the doctor. Encourage proper food intake and avoid prolonged fasting based on your health condition.
If you have a surgical wound: seek medical attention at emergency services or the Basic IPS if it becomes red, shows signs of infection (fever, intolerable pain, purulent or foul-smelling discharge).
If discharged with a medical device such as tubes, oxygen, or catheters, follow the handling and care instructions provided during the discharge process.

Nutrition

Follow the specific recommendations provided by the nutrition staff.

Drink at least 2 liters of water daily to prevent kidney damage unless contraindicated by existing health conditions.

Wash fruits and vegetables thoroughly before consumption.

Personal Hygiene

Take a daily shower in the morning using mild soap and a soft towel, both for personal use only.
Brush teeth 2–3 times daily using a soft-bristle toothbrush to prevent gum bleeding.
Wash hands frequently, especially before eating and after using the restroom.
Hygiene items must be used exclusively by the patient and should not be shared, including soap (preferably small bars), shampoo, towel, comb, toothbrush, toothpaste, skin moisturizer, and deodorant.
