Responsibilities

of the Caregiver

As a caregiver, you have significant responsibilities toward the patient.

You must ensure compliance with all the instructions given by the doctor and nursing staff:

Prevention

Early detection of situations that may endanger the patient’s life.

Education

Communicate the doctor’s advice and care recommendations to the rest of the family.

Promotion

Identify and optimize the potential of each cared-for individual and their resilient behaviors, promoting stimulation actions that enable or strengthen social integration to achieve a better quality of life.

Assistance
  • Ensure that discharge-prescribed medications are provided by the EPS to continue treatment at home.
  • Confirm that the patient takes their medications as prescribed by the doctor.
  • Monitor the patient’s diet, including preparation, requirements, and restrictions provided by nutritionists and the treating doctor.
  • Assist the patient with daily activities: bathing, eating, mobility, attending appointments, and check-ups.
  • Designate a primary caregiver who is familiar with the patient’s progress in case of emergencies, and create a medication card with doses and schedules for easy reference.
