CrearCES Research and Innovation Center: A Milestone for Clínica CES

In August, CrearCES, the Research and Innovation Center of Clínica CES, was inaugurated, a project driven by the Scientific Directorate. It was conceived as a unique space to promote and centralize all the institution’s innovation, research, training, and knowledge transfer activities.

“This is a milestone for the Clinic. It is one of the organization’s strategic pillars where we will develop projects aimed at generating new knowledge and innovation to address healthcare sector needs,” explained Andrés Trujillo Zea, General Director of Clínica CES.

This collaborative space for innovators is located on the sixth floor of the Clinic, featuring colors, shapes, and words associated with ideas, inviting members of both the Clinic and CES University to align their research projects.

Various disciplines, including health, biomedical engineering, physiotherapy, medicine, and nursing, can collaborate here to advance medical science in the city and provide innovative solutions to health-related societal needs.

“The main goal of the Research and Innovation Center, as a space for CES organization collaborators to interact, is to promote the creation and participation in projects related to scientific product generation. Notably, we are currently working with CES University on the home care model and implementing the Dr. Ojos telemedicine model,” stated Dr. Lucas López Quiceno, Scientific Director of Clínica CES.

Overall, projects can be designed and developed to improve the Clinic’s processes, create innovative care models, medical devices, and clinical trials to validate developing medications. This is made possible by qualified staff, certification in Good Clinical Practices by Invima, and infrastructure that includes outpatient, inpatient, and critical care areas, an exclusive pharmacy for research, and a records area for handling, control, and confidentiality of information.

“As a key resource, we have the Innovation Laboratory, which is integrated with other laboratories at CES University and serves as a space for ideation and project creation. It was designed to foster creativity and teamwork,” added Director López Quiceno.

Additionally, CrearCES welcomes projects in development from other institutions or those requiring Clinic participation. Any innovative product, process improvement, or care model formulation will be guided through its stages to maturity and implementation, including clinical trials from the pharmaceutical industry or other national and international organizations.

Each of the mentioned features will stimulate the integration of scientific knowledge into professional practice, continuous education, and clinical research development for both faculty and students, aiming to achieve certification as a university hospital.

“With this project, we are taking a significant step towards continuous improvement and positioning ourselves as a university hospital. It is a strategy to strengthen the integration between the Clinic and the University,” emphasized the General Director of Clínica CES.

Finally, at CrearCES – the Research and Innovation Center of Clínica CES – and in collaboration with its strategic partners, the focus will remain on pursuing patient well-being with high human, ethical, and scientific quality through knowledge generation and transfer.

“Anyone interested in collaborating with us on related projects is welcome at CrearCES, where they will receive full support from our team. Advisory requests can be made via email at investigacion@clinicaces.edu.co and innovacion@clinicaces.edu.co”, concluded Dr. Lucas López.
