The Wound Clinic is a specialized service of Clínica CES, staffed by a team specialized in managing complex injuries, providing care for patients with acute and chronic wounds. Coordinator Leidy Zapata Ruiz explains its outpatient and hospital scope.
his service works in coordination with other specialties to identify factors that may delay or promote the healing process, playing an essential role in safe, high-quality care focused on patients’ overall well-being.
Currently, the Wound Clinic offers two programs for educating patients and their caregivers during hospital stays.
Healthy Skin, which identifies patients with pressure injuries or at risk of developing them, provides necessary care instructions to prevent new injuries.
The second program is aimed at patients with fecal or urinary ostomies. It teaches them to understand the procedure and how to care for themselves to avoid complications after returning home.
Both strategies positively impact patients’ quality of life, moving beyond healing sessions to prevention.
The most common wounds treated in the outpatient service result from accidents, post-surgical procedures, and chronic conditions such as arterial vascular ulcers, venous vascular ulcers, and diabetic foot.
Through comprehensive patient assessment, multidisciplinary collaboration, and wound care procedures using advanced materials, the healing process is supported. Patients can access our service via referrals from their Health Benefit Plan Administrators (EAPB) or as private clients.
